Oregon @ Oregon State “Civil War” game: The official standing right next to the QB blew the ball dead, while the QB was still on his feet, and everybody was still moving. The ball popped out and was coming down to the ground BEFORE the official blew the whistle. An OSU player picked upo the “dead” ball, which would have been live in every other case, and ran it in. However, being called dead, the botched play was not reviewable. Why is this not so? Officials are supposed to enforce fairness in the game, not possibly affect the outcome.

The official who made the botched call was over with the referee, talking to the OSU, and you could read it on his face — he screwed up and he knew it. Why are these mistakes allowed to stand?

Every year USC is in the hunt for a national title and just about every year they lose one game to a unranked team that ends up costing them a shot. They end up winning the Pac 10 and going to the Rose Bowl.

The Big 10 champion plays the Pac-10 champion in California(Rose). They play the SEC in 2 bowl games in Florida(Citrus/Outback). They play the Big 12 in 2 bowl games in the southwest (Arizona-insight/Texas-Alamo). The only game they get in their area is also in the dead center of the MAC and that is is the motor city bowl.
Sit-It is not suppose to be an award for a good season. Where have you been??? Since they 1st implemented a final poll after the bowls in 1948 going to a bowl game is not a reward.

It was only about 20 seconds long. I don’t know wether it meant anything, I think it was just a random dream I had after playing the game for a few hours, haha.

I awoke in a white double bed. The room around me was white and I destingtly remember pink rose petals in a glass bowl.

For those of you who don’t know- the ‘Smoker’ is a Zombie with green skin and a mouldy face with a huge tongue sticking out which he uses to constrict and then scratch people to death. They arn’t pretty, lol!

Johnny, It had been a long week for me so on Friday night I played the game for a few hours. I hardly ever play video games..

with 2011 coming to a close and people remembering the year that it was. it reminded me, this year was a crazy year for natural disasters, with a 9.0 earthquake in Japan that caused a Tsunami and nuclear plant meltdown, freak heat in parts of the country, especially in my home area of North Texas, not to mention the extremely colder then normal temps in Feb, also in my area during Super Bowl Week where the Ice Storm and temps in an area between 5 to 20 degrees for a low temp try to ruin the fun of a big week for sports and business in the DFW area. Plus hurricanes and tropical storms that hit the US (Irene and that storm named Don that died out trying to enter Texas thanks to the 100 degree heat at the time of it’s landfall) and last and not least tornadoes all over the US, especially the late April super-outbreak in the south and the Joplin, MO Tornado.

after the wild and crazy year, will 2012 be a repeat of 2011 or will it be less active, or worse, more active then this past year.

i hope for the sake of life and safety that it’s less active, but at the same time i hope it’s more active or just that active if i was a storm chaser, which I’m not.

i want everyone in the Weather sections thoughts on what the new year will have in store for us, and please no “2012 is the year the world ends” talk, i don’t want it to be about something that might or might not happen, which in my opinion will not happen.

Ok I know there’s a lot of debate about how we haven’t even gotten to free agency, we probably won’t have a season and all that, but I’m eager for some more football. Here’s my predictions with explanations.

AFC East
NYJ 13-3 (I believe this will be the one season the Jets are consistent throughout)
NE 13-3 (New England’s been a powerhouse for a long time they won’t be going down anytime soon)
Buf 10-6 (This team showed some life in the second half of the season and with a good draft will surprise many)
Mia 2-14 (This team just doesn’t have a good offense at all. But if you know the Dolphins they could go from worst to first in 2012)

AFC North
Bal 12-4 (This year Ray Lewis will be hungrier than ever)
Pit 12-4 (They’re obviously a very good team that won’t have their usual Super Bowl Hangover since they didn’t win)
Cle 8-8 (This team has a lot of young talent, but Mangini just couldn’t coach them well.)
Cin 5-11 (So if you get rid of all the Superstars you get rid of the drama, but lose all the playmakers. This year will be a necessary step to rebuild and they’ll be a contender in the AFC North again)

AFC South
Hou 11-5 (I really think this is their year, with Wade Phillips as Defensive Coordinator, it seems as though all the pieces are in place.)
Ind 9-7 (Peyton Manning and the Colts finally fall off, like they almost did last year.)
Jax 5-11 (Jack Del Rio just isn’t that good of a coach. But when they finally decide to fire him the Jags will be an AFC South Contender.)
Ten 3-13 (A rebuilding year before the Titans are back to being contenders.)

AFC West
SD 11-5 (San Diego just got real unlucky last year. They’ll take control of the West again.)
Den 9-7 (I think with a stable coach like Fox they’ll be more motivated, and they are a talented team.)
KC 7-9 (I think this will be an up and down year for the Chiefs. But in 2012 I expect total dominance.)
Oak 5-11 (I’m not sure about this Hue Jackson guy, I don’t know much about him so Oakland fans, fill me in, but honestly I think if the Raiders are going to go back to domination, and I know it’s a terrible thing to say, but Al Davis needs to die or the stubborn old man can just retire.)

NYG 10-6 (Another season where they play good but just not good enough.)
Phi 9-7 (I think this will be a year of inconsistency but they’ll be fine down the road.)
Wsh 3-13 (God is this place a train wreck. It’s a shame all this good talent’s going to go to waste, with Shannahan and his pampered little son.)

GB 13-3 (This team’s going to be a dynasty. Winning the Super Bowl with 16 players on IR? Ridiculous.)
Det 11-5 (Matt Stafford stays healthy and the losing era ends.)
Chi 8-8 (A Pretty difficult schedule, and I think Jay Cutler will have another mediocre year.)
Min 7-9 (I’m a strong believer in Leslie Frazier.)

TB 12-4 (Ok this pick might be pretty biased, but with the right players, this young team will be one of the best teams in the NFL.)
Atl 10-6 (It’ll be hard to match up to the success with the huge targets they have on their back, particularly with the Bucs and Saints.)
NO 9-7 (It’d seemed as though they weren’t as motivated in the second half of the season.)
Car 5-11 (I hate the Panthers, but I believe in Ron Rivera, and unfortunately for me the tough NFC South gets tougher in 2012.)

Unpredictability
Alright Eric, you can say my AFC predictions are terrible, but when you question my Bucs that’s when we have problems. If you want a detailed description the Packers dominate Tampa Bay in the regular season, this therefore motivates Tampa Bay and they go on a win streak. A huge upset in the championship game for redemption. Believe it or not, in Tampa they know what they’re doing. In Kansas City they know what they’re doing too, I just expect them to be very unlucky, and with the tougher schedule there might be more games like Baltimore. The Broncos have a good defense and Tim Tebow could have a great Sophomore campaign, he could bomb as well. The Texans have a good offense not great but good, and I think Wade Phillips will turn the defense around. The Colts head coach is a loser. Giving up perfection, then he didn’t win 12 games, I’m noticing a pattern here. Back to the Chiefs and Bucs. The Chiefs played a decent AFC West, the crappy NFC West, the decent AFC South, Buffalo and Clevela

since he predicted that the Indianapolis Colts will win the Super Bowl during his interview in the pre-game show… Obama apparently figures he has Louisiana in hip pocket. As a native Louisianian with plenty of relatives back home, I can say that this is not the case. Obama has disappointed and alienated a state full of formerly die-hard Democrats – perhaps the last state in the Solid South to have a significantly bi-racial Democratic Party.

To start, I’m 7 months pregnant with a daughter (my first daughter, I already have a son). I’ve been an ardent feminist since I was a teenager and now that I’m having a daughter, I feel all the more inspired on the subject…I’m thinking about what I can do to help fight negative gender stereotypes…ways I can show her and explain to her why sexism is so damaging so that she can fight it in her own life…

On to my question…this lead me to do some reading. I recently read a biography by Ayaan Hirsi Ali (I don’t have time to explain who she is in this post…if you haven’t heard of her, look her up and find out who she is for yourself) in which she talks about the oppression women routinely suffer in the countries where she grew up (like Sudan and Saudi Arabia)…it really got me thinking about how relatively good women in the western world (Europe, America, etc) have it. Of course sexism is still an issue but at least we have legal rights here that women in other parts of the world can only dream of…do we women then have a responsibility to try to improve things for all women all over the world? For example, couldn’t we lobby our gov’t(s) to impose trade sanctions on countries that atill allow women to be forced into marriages against their will or countries where girls are denied an education simply because they are female?

Of course I care about my son…but is there any country in the world where he is forbidden to leave the house with out a female escort or forbidden to drive a car simply because he is male? No? Then shut up.
I would never dream of telling my daughter to forget that she is a girl….but I do want her to be aware of the history of women’s rights because those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it. And I do want her to understand that just because some people may make certain negative assumptions about her based on the fact that she’s female, that she doesn’t have to believe them.

well, I ve think I ve finally come to the relalization that there is something wrong with me., .I was sexually involved with this guy, off and on for almost a year and half, and I mean he keeps putting it on the internet, that he loves me, and wants to be with me, but I havent talked to him in like three months, all he does is prank call me and stuff(which I dont understasnd), but there are alot of weird things that I found out about him, first, he does ecstacy, hes 32 years old, and he lives in the same apartment building as his sons mother, he stays up all night, and does weird stuff like make fake facebook profiles and play like “sims”lol, its weird,he lost his job as a security supervisor, for 10 years, for what I dont know,…he always talking about “coke” for some reason, he said he doesnt do it, but I know he does ecstacy, hes into hacking email, he knows alot about me, when we dont really talk, so I ‘m not sure, if he hacking into my email/phone, both, not sure ..we broke up about three months ago, we got back together after that and he told me that I could not come to his house, and if I did he would get a ‘restraining order” because I ‘violated” him by showing up un announced in the past,and he had to explain the whole situation to his son,. for two months straight, like once a week, all I got was ignored, but yet he would still prank call, so i find my self going to his facebook several times a day and I guess today he put some pictures up of him and some girl, he met at his best friend wedding, last week,…at a big bear type cabin pictures of her, together and he fly out to her city(east coast) to see her, and posted the pics up…so I’m a little down and out, guess I ‘ll cry myself to sleep, and I think he bought her a diamond necklace ..(not sure though) he never did that with me at all…all he did was sleep with me and leave soon after, (never spent the night) …which I thought was because he had a live in girlfriend/married to his baby mother, but the pics are with a girl he just met about two months ago. but at the same time, he has pics of other women as well, hugged up or posing,and when we got back together he did tell me “If you see me out with another women, dont cause a scene, he said he will come up to me and give me a hug, and wisper in my ear”I’ll call you later”..wow, I thought…either way..heartbroken and sad…and confused, and I tried calling him yesterday to check up on him , he ignored me again,hes been ignoring me for the past two months…I told him, I loved him, i wished him a happy holidays, I dont know why hes playing these head games, he prank calling me, and saying he misses me, but when I call him no answer, i thought about sending him something for valentines day…but I dont know if I should gosh, I’m a dummy, but i miss him…:(

well, I ve think I ve finally come to the relalization that there is something wrong with me., .I was sexually involved with this guy, off and on for almost a year and half, and I mean he keeps putting it on the internet, that he loves me, and wants to be with me, but I havent talked to him in like three months, all he does is prank call me and stuff(which I dont understasnd), but there are alot of weird things that I found out about him, first, he does ecstacy, hes 32 years old, and he lives in the same apartment building as his sons mother, he stays up all night, and does weird stuff like make fake facebook profiles and play like “sims”lol, its weird,he lost his job as a security supervisor, for 10 years, for what I dont know,…he always talking about “coke” for some reason, he said he doesnt do it, but I know he does ecstacy, hes into hacking email, he knows alot about me, when we dont really talk, so I ‘m not sure, if he hacking into my email/phone, both, not sure ..we broke up about three months ago, we got back together after that and he told me that I could not come to his house, and if I did he would get a ‘restraining order” because I ‘violated” him by showing up un announced in the past,and he had to explain the whole situation to his son,. for two months straight, like once a week, all I got was ignored, but yet he would still prank call, so i find my self going to his facebook several times a day and I guess today he put some pictures up of him and some girl, he met at his best friend wedding, last week,…at a big bear type cabin pictures of her, together and he fly out to her city(east coast) to see her, and posted the pics up…so I’m a little down and out, guess I ‘ll cry myself to sleep, and I think he bought her a diamond necklace ..(not sure though) he never did that with me at all…all he did was sleep with me and leave soon after, (never spent the night) …which I thought was because he had a live in girlfriend/married to his baby mother, but the pics are with a girl he just met about two months ago. but at the same time, he has pics of other women as well, hugged up or posing,and when we got back together he did tell me “If you see me out with another women, dont cause a scene, he said he will come up to me and give me a hug, and wisper in my ear”I’ll call you later”..wow, I thought…either way..heartbroken and sad…and confused, and I tried calling him yesterday to check up on him , he ignored me again,hes been ignoring me for the past two months…I told him, I loved him, i wished him a happy holidays, I dont know why hes playing these head games, he prank calling me, and saying he misses me, but when I call him no answer, i thought about sending him something for valentines day…but I dont know if I should gosh, I’m a dummy, but i miss him…:(

I came to U.K to pursue my interests in mathematics and physics, I was working quite hard doing odd jobs to earn enough money to study. Finally, with the help of my parents and my savings I found a place at King’s college and studied mathematics there for one year. After that I was offered a place and scholarship in Oxford University to do an advanced course in Theoretical Physics. It is a world-renowned examination and known for being notoriously difficult. Something dramatic and beautiful happened at that time I was really proud of my-self and thought that I have aligned myself with what I truly wanted to do. There was a blossoming of such gracefulness and I felt incredible happiness, I was able to communicate with people and naturally loved them. My confidence had never been so high. My time at Oxford was the most incredible time I have ever had, I found out a caring, play-ful, and compassionate part of my personality that I believe attracted people. It did not last very long though, only because I was afraid and could not quite cope with this. it was overwhelming. I was scared that I wouldn’t do well in the examination and wanted to prolong this experience and stay in Oxford by getting a PhD place there which is extremely competitive. I started to work really hard, and shielded my self from people. I spent close to 24 hrs in the library, became socially inept, living in my shell.

But I didn’t do well in the exams I had severe gastritis and abdominal pain during the examinations. It was a shock and I felt that I cannot pursue this any more and had severe doubts whether I was intelligent enough. After Oxford I wanted to find a job and it was an incredibly depressing period that I was not able to find any for quite a long time in the present down-turn, finally I got into a Hedge fund in the city.

Before I explain my current situation. I have to also tell you that I have never had a relationship with a woman and I am 28 years old now. I used to wonder whether my unhappiness comes down to the fact that there was never a woman that I can say ‘she is mine’, some one that I can really love and be loved. I am deprived of the caring touch and intimacy of a partner. And every fibre in my body is yearning for it. I am also ashamed that I am too distressed and desperate about this but that is the truth. I have never approached a woman, during my time at Oxford I was surprised to see some remarkable and caring woman were interested in me, but I could not come to term with this. I never understood the subtle gestures of women. I am still not sure- may be they were just sympathetic towards me. I am not a typical ‘charming material’ or ‘the macho’ . I feel ashamed that I am week when it comes to women and for basing every thing in my life around this. I feel it is because I am such a waste-basket and boring that no one is interested in me and I am an invisible guy. It is a downward spiralling loop. When I walk down the street I am quite embarrassed that I desperately look at people in love, I have only been a spectator of romantic love. It seems so beyond me and I am afraid that I would never found some one to love, I feel like crying out loud ’ please love me’. Even as I type this paragraph I am embarrassed and humiliated by my self, by my helplessness and ‘ weakness’’.

Now I have been offered a full scholarship from University of Durham to do a PhD, and I believe I am going to take it. Then the doubtful part of me some time stirs me and confuses me creating all sorts of doubt. I fear that I am not intelligent enough and going to be a failure in life. A desperate man.Then there is this doubt that I am too old tstart the phd, and mathematics is a young man’s game. Also there is this crippling guilt that I am complaining about my petty little things when there are people in the world who are going through far greater pain.

I’m just interested in feedback, but please nothing too harsh. I wrote this a few months ago as a prologue, but I recently cut out the rest of the story. I kind of just want to know if it’s decent without any editing, but I plan on at least adding names and some kind of background to it later on. I know, it’s extremely confusing. (x

The satin white moonlight shone brilliantly off of the her impossibly pale skin, in stark contrast with her long dark hair. It hung in loose ebony curls that fell in different lengths around her livid face. Thunder shook the earth; the dead, barren trees surrounding me trembled violently. the silken black dress that fell over her body like an inky waterfall of darkness moved slightly in the chilling breeze; the rain dripped off of her like rejected memories of a horrific accident. The spot in which she knelt somberly was a lone patch of tamed greenery- almost peaceful despite the crimson stain of blood, which was flowing from a wound presently invisible to my sight.
Then the sharp, audible words escaped her lips in syllables I could not understand. “Delivre-moi de l’obscurite, sauve-moi de ce mal.” The words blended together in a frenzy of confusion, yet they settled in my mind, as if I were destined to remember her mezmerizing chant. Lightning struck suddenly, like the hand of time, sending the bright orange flare of a burning tree into the atmosphere. She seemed abruptly aware of my presense, stiffening, as if something had lured her out of her prayer-induced trance. The evil feeling tha I knew her so well, that I had at some point in eternity been so very close to her, shared her hidden thoughts was so incredibly strong and utterly inevitable.
The moon was unusually full and bright, the stars girdling it like a golden halo – a halo that would soon be torn aware without warning. Wordlessly, without any sound but the now heavily falling rain, she looked up, raising her head from the previous bowed, surrendering position. The blood was not only flowing from the four-inch pening near her heart, but dripping from her pointed teeth. Her eyes coldly and somewhat harshly met my own. The thin grey mist of hope was quickly fading in her darkened irises. The sheer agony lced with fear bleeding through was so tormentingly familiar, so close to my own heart. Her emotions of sorrow became my own, her negative aura of energy possessed my mind.
She gradually lessened her grip on the single black rose she had held pressed against her heart. The thorns had left several wounds, all bleeding, but she did not seem to notice. The rose hit the ground lightly, it delicate, dark petal now heavy with rain. The wicked night morphed it into the deadliest weapon. Blinding white lightning flashed inches away from where she sat, still kneeling, causing me to stagger back blindly.
She began to rise apprehensively, quivering like the petals of a withering rose, mouthing something repeatedly until it became audible. “Aidez-moi, Arrianna.” My sister’s last words lingered hauntingly in the damp night air as she collapsed lifelessly to the ground. Her words had been pronounced slowly, as if every syllable had caused her great pain. The image of the agony in her eyes stronger than I had ever seen before- in this life of the previous- was imprinted permanently on my mind.
The was when the whispers began to arise. They erupted from every direction, filling every empty space, filling the void inside me. The dark sounds had no visible origin, yet they felt so close, burning my skin like small, quickly fading flames with every hiss. The answers lay within them as the truth of right and wrong, love and death, became increasingly louder. Rising and falling over every word, the whispers of a thousand different disembodied voices foreshadowed death.
