Will Rick Santorum publicize the family photos he took with his wife’s miscarried fetus?
“Upon their [unborn] son’s fatality, Rick and Karen Santorum opted not to bring his body to a funeral home. Instead, they bundled him in a blanket and drove him to Karen’s parents’ home in Pittsburgh. There, they spent several hours kissing and cuddling Gabriel with his three siblings, ages 6, 4 and 1 1/2. They took photos, sang lullabies in his ear and held a private Mass.
“That’s my small guy,” Santorum says, pointing to the photo of Gabriel, in which his tiny physique is framed by his father’s hand. The senator often speaks of his late son in the present tense. It is a rare instance in which he talks softly.
He and Karen brought Gabriel’s body home so their children could “absorb and be with you that they had a brother,” Santorum says. “We wanted them to see that he was real,” not an abstraction, he says. Oh, I’m sorry. It’s sweet, yes. It’s really sweet that Santorum mourns the miscarriage, but doesn’t seem to mind at all how many fetuses – along with women – will die in illegal abortions if forced-birth is made the new law of the land. Nor does he propose any legislation to research the cause of the U.S.’s high miscarriage tariff, which is probably environmental factors. (Then we would have to stop corporations from dumping toxins everywhere! Gasp!)
How dare I question the genuineness of someone who thinks women’s highest calling in life is to get pregnant as many times as possible and give her life to unpaid child-raising.
lol. I just thought it might make him seem more legitimate to the anti-abortion conservatives, like Bachmann advertising how many children and foster children she had.
I guess whatever helps them grieve. But it does seem extreme to me. And regardless, it WAS a fetus.
Is Rick Santorum another unexceptional candidate for President, who relies mainly on distortion of Obama’s?
I (Grote) questioned Santorum about his claim that Obama believes “America had nothing to place forward the world” given that, in the answer Santorum cites, the president also said: “I reckon that we have a core set of values that are enshrined in our Constitution, in our body of law, in our democratic practices, in our belief in free speech and equality, that, though imperfect, are exceptional.”
Are Republicans scraping the bottom of the barrel, and finding they just do not have a viable Presidential candidate anywhere?
