Why do people continually site the FOX Monsanto case saying they could now legally lie? Other networks guilty?
–It will demonstrate how the undercover ABC producers performed much of the food handling mischief captured by their concealed cameras, and how the narration by network star Diane Sawyer did not match the images being shown to the public.
–It will document how ABC producers tried to lure Food Lion workers into violating company rules on the handling of food.
–And finally, it will show you how ABC News, the nation’s most powerful TV network, set facts on their head in an attempt to deceive the public as to the significance of the jury verdict.
ABC’s conduct in the Food Lion affair is a case study in media malpractice. It is a story of repulsive dishonesty. It does damage to the concept of a free press which should be dear to both the average citizen and to the professional journalist. And it tells, as a spokesman for Accuracy in Media told ABC News the day of the verdict, “why journalists now have less credibility with the American public than do professional wrestlers.” ABC’s “World News Tonight” did not air that quotation, because it cut to the truth of the ABC-Food Lion scandal.
Alan Levan won a $ 10 Million libel judgment against ABC and 20/20 in which he claimed they reported he had tricked investors in bogus real estate deals, but that judgment was later thrown out by U.S. Court of Appeals in Atlanta and the Supreme Court refused to hear the case. (Trigoboff, 3/6/2000)
Washington apple growers filed a $ 150 Million suit against CBS for a 60 Minutes piece about ALAR (pesticide). Later asked for $ 100 Million. Farmers said the pesticide was not dangerous. The case was settled without a trial (summary judgment) FOR CBS on the basis that the scientific community was sharply divided about the effects of the chemical. If that were the case, how could the report be proven false? Appellate Court upheld the ruling in 1995. (See Pember p. 138) Note: This is TRADE LIBEL
1991 largest Libel judgment in U.S. History: $ 58 MILLION to ‘Texas district attorney Vic Feazel, who was falsely accused by WFAA-TV in Dallas of taking bribes to fix drunken driving and drug possession cases. They ultimately settled out out court for a smaller amount. (Smith, p. 413) An ABC affiliate.
1993 New York appellate court upheld an $ 18.5 Million dollar award against Buffalo TV station WKBW for incorrectly associating a restaurant owner with organized crime. Later reduced to $ 15.5 million. (Smith p. 413) Retrial was ordered because of faulty jury instructions and that jury awarded 11.5 million dollars in damages (NBC affiliation)

There are many more law suits against other networks besides FOX.
Richard Jewell has settled with NBC and CNN for several million dollars and has filed suit against the New York Post and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for statements that were based on false information and undisclosed facts and damaged Mr. Jewell’s reputation. The writings implied Mr. Jewell was the Olympic Park bomber.
This represents just a few over the years. The Red Lion ABC suit is allegedly to have involved ABC helping a union get rid of this large food chain.
FOX has more minorities represented in their network than all the others combined. Prove what you say.
Red Lion was not unionized.
The apple growers case was thrown out stating differences within the scientific community about the effects of the chemical.
FOX was sued by their employee for not reporting the story. Would you want to be sued by Monsanto? Come on now. Be honest.
I would rather our government deal with questionable chemicals than any news source. So you agree with the apple growers case and the Red Lion case that the journalists can say whatever they want in order to ruin businesses? Not me.
@ ballot box: it doesn’t matter, you can not force a network to air a story, if that was the case, you would have to close down every paper, periodical and network.
so, I guess it’s ok to lie for a big company, but not against a big company?
overall I think most people would rather a network lie against a big company than for a big company…
in short, if they lie for a big company, no one may ever know… at least if they lie against a big company, the company has a way to fight what the media outlet said…

What is your attitude concerning tax-exempt foundations?
“According to Rep. Wright Patman, in a report to the 87th Congress, it is because of the existence of foundations, that “ONLY ONE-THIRD OF THE INCOME OF THE NATION IS ACTUALLY TAXED.”
“Before 1900, there were only 18 foundations; from 1910-19, there were 76; during the 1920′s, 173; the 1930′s, 288; the 1940′s, 1,638; and during the 1950′s, there were 2,839 foundations.”
“United Press International (UPI) reported on July 19, 1969, that the top 596 foundations had an INCOME THAT WAS TWICE THE NET EARNINGS OF THE COUNTRY’S 50 LARGEST COMMERCIAL BANKING INSTITUTIONS.” (That’s correct. Read that last statement one more time.)
“The worst offenders in this racket are the openly Communist Rockefeller family. Among their major holdings are: Chase Manhattan Bank, American Telephone & Telegraph (AT & T), Eastman Kodak, IBM, General Electric, Texas Instruments, Xerox, Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing, Monsanto Chemical, Aluminum Co. of America (Alcoa), Armour, Bethlehem Steel, Chrysler, DuPont, General Motors, International Paper, Polaroid, Sears and Roebuck, Standard Oil of California (Chevron), Standard Oil of New York (Mobil), Standard Oil of Indiana, U.S. Steel, International Basic Economy Corp., International Harvester, Quaker Oats, Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Itek, Federated Department Stores, Walgreen Stores, Transcontinental Gas Pipeline, Consolidated Edison, Anaconda Copper Co., General Foods, Pan American World Airways, Colgate-Palmolive, E. I. du Pont de Nemours, W. R. Grace, Inc., Corning Glass Works, Owens Corning Fiberglass, Cummins Engine, Hewlett-Packard, R. R. Donnelly and Son, Dow Chemical, Teledyne, Inc., Warner-Lambert, Westinghouse, International Telephone and Telegraph (IT & T), Motorola, S. S. Kresge, Texaco, National Cash Register, Avon, American Home Products, Delta Airlines, Braniff Airlines, Northwest Airlines, United Airlines, and Burlington Industries.”
Yet they pay no taxes. The rationale of such scheisters is that foundations are devoted to philanthropic work. Here are examples of the causes endorsed by such foundations.
“The Rockefeller Foundation provided over $ 50,000 to fund the Building America textbook series, which played up Marxism, and sought to destroy “traditional concepts of American government.” Over 100 communist organizations contributed material, including the writings of over 50 communist writers. The California Legislature said that the books contained “purposely distorted references favoring Communism…” The Foundation contributed money to the pro-communist New School for Social Research in New York City, and funded projects for the communist-staffed Southern Christian Leadership Conference, led by Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. Rep. Cox said that the Rockefeller Foundation has “been used to finance individuals and organizations whose business it has been to get communism into private and public schools of the country, to talk down to America, and play up Russia…” The Foundation also funded the Kinsey Report, which heralded a new era of sexual immorality.”

SERIOUS REPLIES ONLY. INDIVIDUALS TROUBLED BY INSOLENCE AND VICIOUSNESS SHOULD MOVE ALONG.
Ronald Reagan
This is a way for politicians to exempt themselves from income and corporate taxes in the same way they exempted themselves from Social Security and the same way the will exempt themselves from Obama Care.

Halliburton just decided to move to dubai and layed off 4000 workers in Houston.
2. I moved all my money off shore 4 Novemeber
3. I am not super rich, but have a business with over 30 workers. If they try taxing me anymore the first thing I will do is stop supplying full medical and dental, the feds can take it over. If they still try and add fees and taxes I’ll close up shop and retire to Andorra or Costa Rica.
This was not a result of who was elected president.
Should we take Corporation’s suffrage more serious? And Is there something wrong with my math?
General Electric: Born 1892 in New York.
Eligibility for President: Be Natural born and at least 35 years old.
General Electric is 119 years old, this corporation is old enough! General Electric was also born in the United States to Americans!
People at least 35 and are Natural born = eligible for president
General Electric = American created person over 35 years old
so…….
Eligibility for President = Person 35 and Naturally born to Americans = General Electric
GE/ Monsanto 2012!
The Automobile Union is considering taking the secretary of commerce position and Teachers Union will become secretary of Education!
I’m surprised the Republicans haven’t already put up one of their favored corporations to run.
