CPAC is extremely close to CPAP, a medical abbreviation for continuous positive air pressure, a therapy for people with certain respiratory problems. I’m sure that’s what most Americans think CPAC refers to and I heard Ron Paul has Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Easy to confuse the two, don’t you think?

Wait till Ron Paul wins we shall see if it is nothing.

Isn’t it strange that the CPAC crowd would boo Ron Paul after he won a CPAC presidential straw poll?

Question
Obviously straw polls are useless for predicting the future…

But doesn’t it seem like these people booing at Ron Paul’s name being called are the same people that booed Ron Paul in early 2007 when he warned them the economy was about to be in very bad shape?? (McCain said “the fundamentals were strong” and everyone cheered…..oops)

The same people that put Bush in office?? The same people who watched the “conservative” Bush expand the govt. like never before??

“This year, Ron Paul breaks Mitt Romney’s winning streak. Clearly Romney realized he was not getting a good return on his investment of organizing voters to vote — a regular phenomenon among potential candidates.

2,395 CPAC registrants voted in the CPAC poll. It’s the largest number of votes in CPAC straw polling history, but but less than 25% of the total turnout at CPAC.

48% of the votes cast were from students. 32% were from paying non-student individuals.

31% voted for Ron Paul. The crowd booed when it was announced.”

What’s it going to take for them to wise up and realize that we need a true conservative (Ron Paul) and that the reign of the Neocon is finished? I’m not surprised that they booed, I am surprised though, that the message is apparently not being heard.

Personally I respect and love our freedom of speech but if I were in a room and you booed at Ron Paul I’d make you respect my freedom of expression by slapping the taste out yo’ mouth.

Ron Paul doesn’t really fit into the “party” shoe. He’s a brilliant economist, and Libertarian when it comes to military actions – get in and win fast, or don’t go at all (my sentiments exactly). Maybe Republicans are waking up and realizing that their crap doesn’t fly. Just because Obama is in a nose-dive, and will never be re-elected, that doesn’t mean the people want the same old, same old, from a Republican like Romney or the other clones.

Ron Paul: Pissing off the Republican establishment. Now, that is my type of Republican.

He resonates among young people. That is why he probably won the poll, despite the older crowd booing him.

Can Ron Paul win the Republican nomination in 2012?

Question
http://publicpolicypolling.blogspot.com/2010/03/romney-leads-tight-republican-race.html

http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/PPP_Release_National_319.pdf

In the Republican race for 2012, Mitt Romney leads with 28%, Mike Huckabee is at 24%, and Sarah Palin is at 23%. Ron Paul polls at 11%.

Obviously, all 3 candidates ahead of Ron Paul have serious problems. Romney will have a hard time convincing voters that implementing ObamaCare at the state level (as he did while he was governor) is any better than doing so at the federal level. Huckabee is plagued by scandals involving his misuse of parole while governor. The fact that Palin, despite her exposure, personal popularity, and presumed status as the frontrunner for the nomination, is unable to break away from the pack is a worrying sign for her, although I still think she is a stronger candidate than Huckabee and Romney.

Ron Paul’s biggest problem is the common belief that he somehow “can’t win,” so it is pointless to vote for him. For every person who supports him, there are probably 2 or 3 who like him, but don’t think he can win. If Ron Paul continues to win the major straw polls (he has consistently won minor straw polls for years, but won his first major straw poll at CPAC this year) and runs away with the fundraising race, he might be able to shake that perception. If Ron Paul learns from the Goldwater, Reagan ’76, and Obama campaigns and focuses on winning the caucus states, would he be able to pull off an upset as 2 out of 3 of these did (Reagan came within a handful of delegates of defeating President Ford)? I think he can win, but I think Palin will be his strongest competition and it will be close.

I don’t think so. He isn’t stupid and that is what R’s seem to go for these days. Whatever happened to R’s like Theodore Roosevelt, for crying out loud?
Answered by hjalmar67
If Ron Paul and Palin are the best the Rs have, I doubt they’ll be coming back to the WH in 2012.
Answered by Bert Weidemeier
Probably not, because the majority of people actually believe that he doesn’t have a chance of winning.

Right now, America needs a change, and the Republican’ts and the Democraps just aren’t delivering. We desperately need a 3rd party to come on the scene, and if its the “right” candidate, he, or she, could win the 2012 election.

Ron Paul needs to take some GIANT steps in the coming months to show everyone that he is the “right” candidate.
