Could the two leading GOP candidates survive a strict IRS audit without a prison term?

Question
B Question: What percentage of GOP voters have become so separated from reality by obsessing over the FUX News website and their ridiculous right wing blogs that they’d vote for a felon before they’d vote for Obama?
Answered by Alan Turing
We can hope for the best.

Do You remember why one of Barry’s key men is called “turbo tax timmy”?
Answered by LadySable
Of course they could – the laws do not apply to them. We all know that the same applies to Democrats as well.
Answered by Kyrie
But isn’t that what the GOP is about? Cheat the taxes then take from the poor to cover it.

How can I file my IRS returns for a few years back if I was in prison?

Question
If I was in prison and didnt file a extension is there anyway I can still file taxes for years past?
Answered by kckid2
You bet. The IRS website has the forms you can download. You must file if you have income above the threshholds for those years.

I always though those in prison didn’t make enough to have to file. But perhaps I’m wrong.

Answered by warriorsca2001
go to the irs website and you can download the forms for the years you need. go to downloads and click on the year you need then the form you need.

Yes, you can file returns for those years. However, if it was more than 3 years ago you will not recieve a refund. But, if you owe tax you will still have to pay that amount.

Furthermore, as a prisoner you will not qualify for most refundable tax credits.

Now how to file…it is the same as any year, except you can’t efile. Just make sure you use the correct year of the forms.

Hope this helps

Answered by Ms. Angel..
Yes, if you don’t have the wage information contact IRS at 1-800-829-1040 and they will send them to you (federal information only) If you need to file 2004 you need to do it on or before April 15, 2008 if you are due a refund; filing after that you will lose the refund.
Download Federal Tax Return from the IRS website.

I just got out of prison and i havent filed taxes since 1994. how do i get right with the irs?

Question
i have not been in prison since 1994. I have worked 2 or 3 mos out of every year since 1994. I just never filed my taxes.
Answered by Rosita
Get yourself a Tax Attorney. You don’t mess with the IRS. Don’t take an easy shortcut… just go to a tax Attorney (recommend you try to get one that used to work for the IRS)
Answered by phuk it dude
Believe it or not, Call them. It sounds dumb, but really they will help you. Also I believe if you make less than 10K a year, you are not required to file. They probably owe you a refund. Tell them it was an honest mistake, you will be just fine.
Answered by Joe Canada
I’m Canadian, but there should be a similar thing in the US. Call the IRS and find out if you can “elect to file” for those years you have missed. This will save you the penalty on the late filing, but you will still be on the hook for the interest. I believe if you are incarcerated there are specific exemptions you can take.

Talk to a CPA or the IRS branch near you.

If the total you made each year was less than, say, $ 6250 from wages, then you don’t owe. ($ 6250 was the amount in 1994; last year it was $ 8750.)

If you don’t owe (or had enough withheld to cover the tax), the IRS doesn’t come after you.

So start with 2005, 2006 and 2007. File those. Request income statements using form 4506-T and get the forms at irs.gov by typing the year into the search box.

if someone owes the irs 25,000 dollars and has4 warrents for their arrest how long of a prison term do they ha?

Question
my friend just found out he has warrants for his arrest for owing the IRS 25,000 dollars how long of a prison term is he facing?
Answered by Elana
He can probably make the entire thing go away by just paying up (with a LOT of penalty and interest).

They don’t want to send people to jail … THEY WANT YOUR MONEY!

Answered by John Scott
I find it very hard to believe there would be warrants for that. For one thing, it’s a relatively small amount, For another, the IRS would more likely go after someone for not filing a return rather than not paying–and even then we’re probably talking about potential balances of millions, not thousands.

I suspect the warrants are for something else.

Answered by Cstina
They don’t need to put out a warrant. They’d just garnish his wages. It’s quite easy, they already have all his info. The warrents are for something else.
Answered by GMan
Depends what the warrants are for. If they are for a quadruple homocide probably 4 life sentences. If they are for drunk and disorderlies, probably less than a month.

BUT the IRS has more painful ways of collecting the money you owe than issuing warrants for overdue taxes. IRS wants the money and they do not take payment in cigarettes he would earn in jail.

Regardless of what everyone says about
“not having to file” if income is this or that; is not true. We are required to file an income tax yearly. If you call IRS they will review your w2 information and let you know if IRS requires a return to be filed.

Contact IRS at 1-800-829-1040 or visit your local IRS office to obtain copies of you W2 (wage informationt) if you don’t have them available. IRS will request Tax Return for 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 to be filed.
Best thing to do is file before IRS files for you.

Good luck and glad to see you are going the right direction.
