Question
what is the address for IRS? so i can send my taxes in?
Answered by v b
If you are using the post office, get the address from the back of the instructions.

Or go to irs.gov http://www.irs.gov/file/content/0,,id=105693,00.html

It depends on where you live. Different state residences send thier taxes to different IRS addresses. This applies to both State and federal filing. Mine were sent to:
Dept. of the Treasury
IRS service cntr.
Austin, TX.

Question
my sister used to live in florida but she recently moved to mass. she did her taxes herself and sent them to the irs address that corresponds to fl instead of mass. will this affect her return in any way?
Answered by Ms. Angel..
Should not affect her return, the return will still be processed or forwarded to a processing center.
Answered by Nicole
It will probably just slow the processing down a bit.

Sending my 1040 to the wrong IRS address?

Question
I completed my 1040 and sent it out to the IRS in January. I would be getting my money back, but I sent my 1040 to the wrong IRS address (the address that you send to if you owe money, not get a refund). It’s been two months and I’ve not got my refund from the IRS. What should I do? I did make a copy of my completed 1040 and original W2 form, should I send a copy to the correct IRS address? Should I refile my 1040 and use a copy of the W2 form?
Answered by Rob
Call the IRS to confirm receipt of your return, It normally takes 6 to 8 weeks to process a mailed return., If they show no record of the return, they will probably advise you to resubmit it with copies of your W2 information and any other attachment that you have.

You can call the automated system at 1-800-829-1954 to check the status of your refund or use the electronic at

http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=96596,00.html

If neither system give you any information call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 to speak with a customer service representative for assistance

The IRS does not accept emails, you need to speak to them by phone or in person. If your grandchildren were claimed by others and you are able to claim then and have filed an amended return to correct the matter, then call the IRS now. Call 800-829-1040 ask for “accounts” to determine if the 1040X is being worked on. The Holtsville service center is most likely working on the return. You may have to provide them with proof that you have custody of the children and provide more than 50% of the support. Also any court documents to if you were awarded custody of the children by a judge. DO NOT WAIT FOR THEM TO CONTACT YOU.
