IRS Question/Gossip?
Question
I have a neighbor that my family and her cant get along. Shes a vicous woman very angry. Always doing bad things yelling or whatever at us or our kids. She works for the IRS and every time she gets into an arguement with us she brings up our personal info about our taxes to everyone. My question is does she have the authority to be looking into our files and disclosing info to everyone just cuz she works there? What should I do? The IRS must not have enough work that their employees resort to geting bored and looking into the towns peoples records and telling info that is none of noones bussiness but that of the individual. Whould u agree?

She should be fired for that. All your IRS records are confidential and she shouldn’t be talking, even if she is only talking to you about your records.

NO paper check yet. I should recieve mine by the 16th. but i am hoping that i am one of the lucky ones that got theirs sent early.

I would call the local office of the IRS, ask for the supervisor and let them know what this woman is doing. The government is very strict on privacy issues and she could lose her job plus have criminal charges brought against her.
Have a little chat with her supervisor and maybe see a local attorney about filing a claim for invasion of privacy.
I used to work for the IRS and they are very explicit that their employees never open a file of someone they know. If they do it is grounds for instant termination from the IRS and given that you use your SSN everytime you log in on thier computers it can all be checked. It is not wise for her to be opening her mouth about things like that. On filed complaint and she could lose her job if substantiated.
Hmm . . . given his recent science fiction films I’d say tour guide for Area 51.
