Officials just BLEW a call in the Civil War, w/ Rose Bowl implications. Why aren’t offical errors reviewable?

Question
Oregon @ Oregon State “Civil War” game: The official standing right next to the QB blew the ball dead, while the QB was still on his feet, and everybody was still moving. The ball popped out and was coming down to the ground BEFORE the official blew the whistle. An OSU player picked upo the “dead” ball, which would have been live in every other case, and ran it in. However, being called dead, the botched play was not reviewable. Why is this not so? Officials are supposed to enforce fairness in the game, not possibly affect the outcome.

The official who made the botched call was over with the referee, talking to the OSU, and you could read it on his face — he screwed up and he knew it. Why are these mistakes allowed to stand?

they should be in at least the acc big east and pac 10

Is Pete Carroll stuck in a dead end job? Hear me out?

Question
Every year USC is in the hunt for a national title and just about every year they lose one game to a unranked team that ends up costing them a shot. They end up winning the Pac 10 and going to the Rose Bowl.

How many Rose Bowls does Pete Carroll need to win before going back to coach in the NFL?

Answered by rexd1972renfro
I think he is using the college football guide for dummies??????
Answered by Modest the Prince
I don’t think he is. He just can’t expect to get alot of respect on the lowly West Coast.
Answered by Bradford 4 Heisman!
Carroll was a miserable failure as an NFL coach. At USC he gets away with paying players to come there, which the ONLY reason why he wins! You need to get a freaking clue!

Carroll better jump ship before USC gets the death penalty for cheating!

Answered by Nick C (Raiders Suck)
He can coach in the NFL now if he wants to. The Raiders would be happy to have him. They already expressed interest. He just wants to coach USC for some reason.

Is the Big 10 at a disadvantage when it comes to playing in bowl games?

Question
The Big 10 champion plays the Pac-10 champion in California(Rose). They play the SEC in 2 bowl games in Florida(Citrus/Outback). They play the Big 12 in 2 bowl games in the southwest (Arizona-insight/Texas-Alamo). The only game they get in their area is also in the dead center of the MAC and that is is the motor city bowl.
Sit-It is not suppose to be an award for a good season. Where have you been??? Since they 1st implemented a final poll after the bowls in 1948 going to a bowl game is not a reward.
Answered by Sit Down, Shut Up
If they are going to whine about it they can always turn down any bowl game they want. Plus going to a bowl game is a reward for a good season. Going to Michigan or Iowa or any other state in the Big 10 area in the dead of winter is no reward. Ever wonder why most games are in the SE US or the west? It’s the good weather.
Answered by Ricky Stanzi
This is why people say that the big ten is a bad conference. because babies like you whine about who we have to play. get a life.
Answered by 123(GO BLUE)
Yeah, they are at a disadvantage. But some of the games they have lost have been ridiculous.

I had the strangest dream.. About Left 4 Dead?

Question
It was only about 20 seconds long. I don’t know wether it meant anything, I think it was just a random dream I had after playing the game for a few hours, haha.

I awoke in a white double bed. The room around me was white and I destingtly remember pink rose petals in a glass bowl.

“I can’t believe we’re getting married today” I said, stretching and looking at him across the room.
“I know, yeah. Its amazing” The ‘Smoker’ replied, LOL. He was putting on a blue tie in the mirror over his white shirt.

And thats it!

I woke up the next morning, sat up and said “Wtf?”

For those of you who don’t know- the ‘Smoker’ is a Zombie with green skin and a mouldy face with a huge tongue sticking out which he uses to constrict and then scratch people to death. They arn’t pretty, lol!

Here is a google image search of a ‘Smoker’, its pretty gross:

They are very ugly and ferocious in the game, thats why it was the strangest thing ever to have a dream about marrying one..

??
The answers so far have been.. Interesting.

Johnny, It had been a long week for me so on Friday night I played the game for a few hours. I hardly ever play video games..

  1. GET OUT OF MY FACE! says:

    Yes, he is.

Pete Carroll is a jerk. I look forward to the day that I don’t have to see him and his f*ggy hairdo on TV.

  2. The Big Kahuna says:

I hadn’t paid attention to how totally regionally based the bowls were. I did know that the Big Ten teams always seemed to have the longest travel.

I think the fact that the Big Ten season ends earlier than other conferences is a bigger disadvantage than the distance except maybe when they travel 1000 or 2000 miles to play a team that can almost ride their bikes to the game.

Until they get a 12th team, they might benefit from playing the end of their regular season one or two weeks later.

  3. bigjohn B says:

They have a disadvantage for sure, the teams are not very good. Big and slow is a good description of the Big Eleven.

  4. Bevo says:

Why would they be at a disadvantage? The tickets are distributed equally and the sites generally have either fair weather or in domes. Plus the cities the bowl games are played in are able to accommodate the traveling fans. What is it with you Big 11 fans always crying that bowls aren’t played up there? Build some domes so the fans will be comfortable, get more hotels and restaurants, and you’ll be able to host bowl games. The Super Bowl location is based on the same criteria.

Earle, I agree Chicago would be a great bowl destination, that goes along with what I said. As far as sleeping in their own beds, that really only applies to the SEC and Pac 10 (namely USC since they seem to be perennially Rose Bowl bound). There is not one single BCS bowl in Big 12 country. And you pointing out that the Big 10 (11) ends the season early negates the arguments of the other users saying football should be played in cold, nasty weather. I always thought that argument was a whiny cop out anyway.
