oj mayo the next carmelo?

Question
i know oj mayo did not live up tto most of th hype he had in front of him at usc and has a scandal already on his hands but like the 03 draft when lebron was the first pick but everyone still thought anthony would be a big time scorer and is will mayo be the same after rose is selected? Will mayo just like bryant and anthony before him be the next scoring machine you love to hat or will he be a 2 or 3 option in the nba
Answered by Chicago Fire
OJ Mayo will probably fall pretty far in the draft. It sounds like you like him, and so I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but it really sounds like he will fade in the NBA. He didn’t have that great of a college career, he is in loads of trouble already, and he isn’t dynamic enough of a player to be a star player in the NBA. He should be a serviceable second or third option, but I wouldn’t trust him as my #1 guy.

Why are college coaches paid MILLIONS of dollars but a college player receiving money is wrong?

Question
I recently asked this question a few months ago and received a mixture of answers. According to the public the best answer can be summed up as the coaches are professionals the players are students and are going to college for an education not for sports.

If that is the case why are there sports teams in college. Why not just have amateur sports outside of college so they can play there. Athletes choose what schools to go to based on the athletic program so they definitely are going for sports. While they may be called students athletes, in reality most are athletes FIRST.

My last point for you to think about is this many say that not all coaches are paid like others and that one coach can make a team so much better and bring in so much money. The same can be said of players. NOT ALL PLAYERS HAVE THE SAME SCHOLARSHIPS and CERTAIN BIG NAME PLAYERS CAN TURN A TEAM AROUND SAME AS A COACH(Carmelo Anthony, Greg Oden,Reggie Bush & Derick Rose if you but aside the scandals lol)
But in an age where scholarships are NOT guarenteed to players and some are even walk-ons. The question is not is it alright to give players money but if it is alright for players to be treated so different from a coach.

HOW CAN YOU HAVE A PROFESSIONAL COACH AND AN AMATEUR PLAYER WHO WORK TOGETHER IN THE SAME SETTING AND THESE PLAYERS SEE WHAT THEIR HARD WORK AFFORDS THIS COACH. AND NOT ALL PLAYERS WILL GO PRO BUT ALL COACHES ARE PAID REGARDLESS IF MILLIONS OR NOT THEY HAVE NO SECOND JOB THIS IS THEIR LIVELY HOOD. FOR MOST PLAYERS THIS IS THE SAME IF THEY ARE DROPPED FROM THE TEAM HOW ARE THEY SUPPOSE TO PAY FOR THIS SUPPOSED FREE EDUCATION( WHICH ISNT FREE BECAUSE THEY USE THE PLAYERS LABOR AS PAYMENT)………..
For those that pose the answer of its the same in high school i have something i would like you to think about:

In high school the coach is either a teacher or some other adult who are not paid big bucks to coach the team. They are paid for the time they put in to the kids…..The coach for a love of what ever sport it is and because they want to help high school students..The amount of money they make is like peanuts compared to what college coaches are paid….in short this is not their main source of income so they must be doing it for other reasons besides money…..

Grant it I could be wrong but i think most would agree…..

PLEASE STICK TO THE QUESTION THIS IS JUST SOMETHING THAT I BELIEVE EVERYONE HAS AN OPINION ABOUT. DONT DISRESPECT OTHERS…THANK YOU

Never Thought of That But That is a Good Question Mane. They Should Do Somthing For The Players Like Cut There Tuition at Least For Great Performance or Give Them a Tiny Proportion of Money That Should Be Done

The coach is employed there. the player is playing as a privilege provided by the school. Its the same thing with High school football teams. They players don’t get anything but a chance to play the sport that they love, but the coach is there to do a job. It is also true that a lot of people playing for scholarships, and that means that their payment is the ability to go to school and get a higher education. It is also true that people don’t want college kids to be influenced on which college to go to by a check, because you know that people would end up paying through the nose for a student to play on their team, and the only reason that that’s ok in the bigger leagues is because thats the point when an education has nothing to do with it. People (if money was involved) would pick a crappy college with a program that doesn’t fit them just because they were offered more money. It’s like a bribe. college football isn’t a job, so paying a player is just like bribing them.

Because it’s their JOB. College athletes VOLUNTARILY play unless they get a scholarship, which is in a way payment.

I agree. Its incredibly hypocritical. And to those who say the coaches are pros and the athletes are amatuers just dont get it.

The Universities MAKE MONEY off the jersey’s and others things with the athletes name on it. And remeber this all you College Coach lovers. Only about 5% of all college players will ever play in the NFL yet they carry the injuries for a lifetime and get not a single $ for it.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I dont blame some 18 year old kid from a poor background trying to get his when he sees everyone around him making money. I always get tons of thumbs down when I say it but i dont care. It is a hypocritical system
