Why is crazy Rick Santorum thinking about running for the White House?
Santorum used to be “my” Senator. He was one of the biggest scumbags in the Republican Party and was a strong supporter of President Bush’s moronic policies.
Make no mistake, I don’t support Obama and I don’t want to see him reelected, but I also don’t want to see a bloodthirsty hypocrite who drones on and on about “moral values” while advocating wars of aggression against “Islamo-Fascism” (a ridiculous term).
Santorum is notorious for his frequent homophobic statements, his staunch advocacy of war with Iran (and his repeated false statements about Iran), his belief that there is no such thing as a “right to privacy” (of course, it often seems that he gets his ideology from the totalitarian regime in George Orwell’s 1984), his delusional belief that the military FOUND WMDs in Iraq (yes, you read that right; my state’s crazy ex-Senator actually still believes in WMDs), and his support for teaching Creationism in government schools. Santorum also has a record of repeatedly attacking private property rights, as he has attempted to force employers to make “reasonable accommodations” for the religious beliefs of their employees and attempted to subject pet breeders to USDA regulations. Santorum also supported Bush’s so-called “privatization” of Social Security (of course, a welfare program cannot be “privatized”; a free market advocate would either favor making participation in Social Security voluntary or outright abolition).
To top it all off, he lived in Virginia while he was supposedly the Senator from Pennsylvania and forced Pennsylvania taxpayers to pay to educate his children.
Although I would like to see Obama lose his re-election in 2012 and to see this country return to a free market economy (which we haven’t had, at least since the days of the New Deal, arguably earlier), if the Republicans run another “Compassionate Conservative” (of course, Bushian socialism is neither compassionate nor conservative) like Santorum (or even somebody slightly more moderate), I will vote for Obama in 2012. If this is what the Tea Party movement is going to be for, then I think advocates of a free market ought to stop enabling a restoration of the nightmarish Bush administration.
As much as I detest the Democratic Party and its socialist policies, I detest “Compassionate Conservatives” like Santorum far more.
You ask and answer your own question. That’s the only type that CAN run on the Republican ticket. They have to appeal to the base.
I could see Ron Paul making some noise in 2012. If Obama keeps moving to the center, I could see myself voting for Dr. Paul.
Santorum probably has better credibility among religious conservatives than most other politicians. However, the GOP is at a point where you can’t win a nomination by appealing exclusively to that wing of the party.

I think that any action that prevents the additional procreation of Rick Santorum is admirable.

I also think it’s hypocritical of him to try and restrict the rights of other women who, like his wife, also should have the right to make their own medical decisions.

You obviously do not care for Santorum or Bush. A lengthy argument could be had to refute your opinions on either individual, but once a person gets it stuck in their head that their opinion is superior to others and there is no room to negotiate, then you get the situation we are in with health care reform and partisanship running rampant. LOL

I find the term “compassionate conservative” a strange thing ….. That would be like saying , normal conservatives have no compassion, sympathy or empathy.
That being said , Santorum is just another right wing nut job with no comassion for the American people .
I think the republican party needs to get busy looking for serious candidates that America can live with.

As for the war on terror, are you even aware that it is only because of the silly political correctness that we don’t speak the truth? We are at war with crazy Islamics who believe that Allah will not return unless they cause massive carnage, blood-spilling, chaos and destruction, and it must be global. Are you one of the idiots who want to have Obama just speak kindly words to them, perhaps serve tea? Are you just a plain old coward or just stupid? These nuts will not think twice before cutting your childs head off and using it for a ball; they hate you, they hate the fact that we have freedom, they do not believe in freedom; esspecially for women, who they treat worse than dogs and pigs.
Don’t worry: people now see what a radical this President is, and he will not be re-elected in 2012. Most of the Congress will be thrown out in 2010 because the people are sick of being ignored and lied to.
If you detest a man simply because he lives with morals and values, do us all a favor and just go be a liberal, because you are half there anyway. Even conservatives have enough respect for peoples freedoms to say “hey, go be gay if ya want, go be liberal if ya want”,
AS LONG AS IT DOES NOT AFFECT THE SOVEREIGNTY OF AMERICA, AND AS LONG AS IT DOES NOT AFFECT OUR CHILDREN NEGATIVELY. But you are ready to stomp on a decent man for absolutely nothing beyond believing in the decency of the American people. Don’t do any of us any favors by saying you are on our side.
