Unsure of how to set up/plan my daughter’s 1st birthday pool party. Can you help?

Question
My idea to reserve my mother’s community pool was nixed due to crazy rules (can only reserve after 8pm).

My mother has a 3-story townhouse (community has side-by-side townhouses; several buildings of these) w small backyards, but a huge grassy area behind them. I was thinking of just buying two pools (http://www.target.com/Intex-Easy-Set-Pool-12%E2%80%99×30/dp/B001BV4S8W/ref=sr_1_30?ie=UTF8&searchView=grid5&qid=1274819913&frombrowse=0&fromGsearch=true&node=1038576%7C1287991011&keywords=pool&searchSize=90&id=Intex%20Easy-Set%20Pool%2012%E2%80%99×30&searchBinNameList=purchasing_channel%2Csubjectbin%2Ctarget_com_age%2Ctarget_com_gender-bin%2Ctarget_com_character-bin%2Cprice%2Ctarget_com_primary_color-bin%2Ctarget_com_size-bin%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin&searchNodeID=1038576%7C1287991011&searchRank=target104545&sr=1-30&searchPage=1 & http://www.target.com/Intex-Gateway-Fun-Play-Center/dp/B002V1H0YK/ref=sc_pd_gwv_4_title) & setting them up out back.

Where do I go from here? I really need advice.

umm your daughter is 1 yr old… can she swim? I assume not so why not just have a party at your house with cake and all that other crap
Answered by ☆**•¸Hey! You asked!¸•**☆
I wouldn’t do that.. those pools are not worth the money and I can’t think of a single person who wouldn’t think it was weird to have two pools side by side like that.. they are also to small to do anything but sit in.

Have you looked into your or her community pool? Not the townhouse community but in the actual town you live in? Every town around my area has a community pool that you can rent out for the day.. it’s not expensive at all and you get the whole pool reserved for however long you rent it for.. also you should consider a water park rental.. they usually have a room you can rent for $ 100 or less or a whole area you can rent with picnic tables.. I think this would be much more entertaining and fun. They usually spot the food for the party as well and you just bring the cake.

- I used to work for a waterpark as my first job Years ago and ppl rented it out all the time for kids parties.

Save the pool party for when she’s older (I’m betting they won’t let you set up pools back there anyways). A first birthday is more for the parents than the child – she really won’t care what you do. Just have lunch, a cake, open presents and you’re done.

you could get some sprinklers like do you remember crazy daisies? You could try and get a table just 1 large one for a buffet. and try having a picnic pool party. maybe have every group of guests bring a blanket to sit on and a dish to share. use paper plates and plastic forks for easy clean up.

Does this birthday wishlist sound good?

Question
So my bday is in a couple weeks. I buy 70% of my clothes and makeup, and I don’t want to be spoiled. I would say we are middle class to upper middle class. (I’m not sure of the requirements or anything) I obviously don’t expect to get all of these things, these are solely suggestions. From my dad, I am getting an Xbox 360, so these are suggestions for my mom, aunt, stepmom, and my moms friends and gma. Also, do you think I should narrow it down and expect to get everything on the list lol? And I am asking for used games to keep the cost low.

I probably will get the striahgtener as the main gift from my mom. I know some of the things are pricy and do you have any lower cost suggestions!

Answered by ♥ßāčāʁďı ßàßé♥
Those sound great! It’s your birthday so I think you should be allowed to spend a bit more than you normally would ;)

If your parents don’t want to spend that much money, then just figure out what items you want the most, and then stick with those. You can always buy the stuff you don’t want as much another time!

Hope I helped! xoxo

My birthday’s tomorrow and all i’m getting is a new straightener and 2 pandora charms i picked out haha. I’m middle class too, but what youre asking for seems like a lot to me…unless your parents don’t mind buying a lot. I’d ask for 1 hair styler, either the straighter or curler, because CHIs are very pricey. Then maybe 1 xbox game instead of two

i suggest you get a padded one if you don’t want everyone knowing you’re cold(if you know what i mean). Other than that… it is really cute!

Not clear — is the party for children (how old)? Adults? Or is it actually for the 1yo?

If your tot is keen on swimming just take her and bring Grandma; don’t worry about renting it out.

although it is wonderful to have an infant getting used to the water, that is not really the appropriate age for a pool party. you will be distracted and unable to keep a very close eye on her. plus, at that age, she will probably be overwhelmed, she will not remember it, and simply put, kids get grumpy at bday parties at that age. try something more low key, for no more than 2 hours, and just keep it simple. at 3 or 4 she will probably love it a pool party ( i do not remember any bdays before 7 or 8, but i remember pool parties at that age, fun memories). you could always buy her a kiddie pool for her bday as a new toy and enjoy it with just you and grandma or something GREAT summer toy for toddlers.
