Where would you sell an amazing autographed baseball: DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe; auction or memorabilia show?

This is an authentic ball signed by Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe on their honeymoon in Japan!! It is also signed by Lefty O’Doul who used to arrange for Yankee players to come to Japan, and 1951 World Series teammate Bobby Brown. It is in mint condition in a glass case. It has pictures to serve as further proof of its providence.
This could sell for tens of thousands of dollars… Question is… where is the best place to sell. Trust an auction site to handle it? Take it to a memorabilia show? What does everything think?

Sothby’s is the ONLY way to go on this item. It would also be worth your time and money to have PSA authenticate this item. It could double or triple your realized price!

Pictures don’t provide “proof.” The only way anyone would buy or pay what this ball is worth if it’s real is to get it certified – so whatever that woudl cost and it would probably be expensive, you need to do – otherwise this is just anotehr uncertified ball that isn’t worth 5 bucks. The autograph market is literally 90% fake so no one buys stuff that isn’t certified. That’s the way of the world now.

This would be much more valuable if only Joe and Marilyn were on it. However, if it can be displayed with only the Joe and Marilyn visable it is almost as valuable. The O’Doul and Bobby Brown signatures are worthless and will detract from the ball’s value.

The market will be strange for this autograph. Neither is really rare. However, together there will be interest. Lefty is a San Francisco legend and was Babe Ruth’s room mate at one time. He had a restaurant in SF as did Joe D. I would auction it at Sotheby’s or Christie’s. They will verify it.

It does not need a current COA but rather an appraisal by the auction house. The picture is nice to have. You might see if you can find “Antiques Road Show.” I can almost guarantee it would get on the show. This is the kind of thing they love and they will appraise it.
